The Tasmania JackJumpers are very proud to unveil the 2024 Teal Jersey, which will be worn at the last regular season game of NBL24 on February 17 – the club’s annual Teal Game, supporting local gynaecological cancer charity, SHE [Support, Hope Education].
The JackJumpers annual Teal Game is inspired by board director Scott Harris and his late wife, Jo, who sadly passed away in April 2023 after a lengthy battle with ovarian cancer.
“This year’s game will be an incredibly emotional experience for everyone involved in the club, being the first since Jo’s passing. We’re so privileged to honor Jo’s legacy and her fighting spirit which has already inspired significant improvements in care for so many Tasmanian cancer patients” JackJumpers CEO and SHE Board member Christine Finnegan said.
The JackJumpers Teal Jerseys have become one of the most popular ‘alternate’ club strips and the 2024 edition is particularly special.
The jersey features a small tribute to Jo Harris with her name etched on the left shoulder of the jersey, along with the SHE Teal Ribbon Logo on the back, ‘Tassie Goes Teal’ on the left hip, and the same ant stripe as the home jersey across the uniform.
“The uniform is very special to our players, coaches and staff and we’re so proud to be wearing it in a few weeks, and to be raising funds and awareness together with SHE” Finnegan said.
The launch of the jersey comes following a significant milestone for SHE, who this week announced the security of a premises for a Cancer Wellness Centre in Hobart’s CBD, with the assistance of University of Tasmania, a long-held dream of the Harris family and SHE.
The club will also hold a range of fundraising and awareness activities in the lead up to and as part of the blockbuster Round 20 game against the Perth Wildcats with more details to come in the official launch of the Teal Game later in February.
“We’re really proud to continue our partnership with SHE, a local organisation who are doing an incredible amount of work to support people with gynaecological cancers” Finnegan said.
The Teal Jersey are on sale at shop.JackJumpers.com.au and at the MyState Bank Arena merchandise store from Thursday 1 February, 10am.
