TASMANIA JACKJUMPERS SEASON ENDS AFTER HARD-FOUGHT GAME 3
The Tasmania JackJumpers 2022/23 NBL season has come to an end following a hard-fought loss in Game 3 of the Playoffs series to the Breakers.
Congratulations to the New Zealand Breakers on reaching their first Championship Series since 2015, and to the Sydney Kings who will be looking to defend their 2022 title, after defeating the Cairns Taipans in the Playoff Series.
“It’s always disappointing when a season comes to an end without the ultimate prize, but we are incredibly proud to have reached the Playoffs and have put out best foot forward in representing the people of Tasmania and upholding our values” CEO Simon Brookhouse said.
“To have once again finished in top four is a great achievement in this incredibly high calibre league but I know the team are hurting, as are all our staff, and of course our partners, members and supporters.
“Congratulations and best of luck to the Breakers and the Kings in the Grand Final” Brookhouse said.
The JackJumpers came out strong to lead in the opening quarter, but the Breakers used the full force of their home crowd to over run the visitors.
Jack McVeigh finished Game 3 with 22 points, while Development Player Sean Macdonald played more than 33 minutes as he filled the shoes of injured Point Guard Josh Magette.
The JackJumpers finished the NBL23 season with 16 wins, 12 losses and the post season with 2 wins and 2 losses.
The JackJumpers Shoot for the Stars MVP will be held on Saturday 25th February with all players, coaches and staff to celebrate the NBL23 season with stakeholders at Atlantisite at MyState Bank Arena.
