It’s certainly not doom and gloom in Tasmania just yet, but two home losses over the weekend have put a significant dampener on their strong start to the season.

With star import David Johnson and veteran Anthony Drmic sidelined, the JackJumpers are crawling toward the FIBA Break. Tasmania conceded a 17-point first-quarter lead against Perth on Wednesday night, before faltering against the lowly Taipans just three days later.

Offensive rebounds were the big issue last Wednesday and then poor shooting (16% from 3pt range) was the Achilles heel in Launceston. The Silverdome curse continues for Tasmania with the team mounting a track record of poor performances at the venue. A monkey they’ll be very eager tog et off their back come Thursday night.

They face a red-hot South East side that have been touted as a ‘genuine Championship contender’. Nathan Sobey's game-high 22 points and ice-cool hand from the free-throw line steered South East Melbourne to the hard-fought five-point win at John Cain Arena on Sunday.

Phoenix sit 2^nd on the ladder with 6 wins and 2 losses from the opening 7 Rounds.
