Tassie kids are set to reap the benefits of a new grassroots sporting partnership between the Tasmania JackJumpers, Tasmania Jewels and Firmus.
Firmus is officially joining the basketball teams as the Principal Community Partner.
The partnership will expand the club’s much loved community programs, deliver equipment upgrades across the state and provide hundreds of kids-go-free tickets to Jewels games.
JackJumpers and Jewels CEO Trent Jacobs said the partnership was built on a shared commitment to the Tasmanian community.
“As a club, we’ve had some incredible on court success, but it’s the support of Tasmanians that we’re most proud of,” Mr Jacobs said.
“Firmus shares our commitment to investing in Tasmanians, and together we will increase the positive impact of sport on our communities with this partnership.
“Every year our club engages with thousands of kids and now we can boost this even more, especially with more visits our regions.
“This means we can spend more time in regional areas like the West and East Coasts, King and Flinders Islands, the Peninsula and Huon Valley, plus so much more.
“We will also invest in equipment to help more Tassie kids enjoy basketball and give more young fans the chance to get to a game with kids-go-free tickets to Jewels games.”
Firmus Chief Operating Officer Cameron Hanson, a Tasmanian local, said the partnership was one he was proud to be part of on a personal level.
"I grew up watching Tasmanian sport bring people together, and few teams do that better than the JackJumpers and Jewels," Cameron said.
"Getting more kids through the door for free, and more gear in their hands so they can actually play the game matters to us, it’s exactly the kind of impact we want to have.
“This club already does so much for the community, and we want to help them do more of it by investing in these programs long term."
