Tre Armstrong granted release from DP contract

The Tasmania JackJumpers wish Tre Armstrong the very best for his future after the 23-year-old requested a release from his Development Player contract for the 2023/24 NBL season.

“Tre has decided that he needs some time away from the game at the conclusion of the NBL1 season, rather than pursue the DP contract.  Whilst we were looking forward to having Tre as part of our group we understand his need for some time away from the game and he has the full support of the organization as he decides the next step in his career” Co-CEO Jorrick Chivers said.

“He is a great young man and we will certainly miss his talents in our group but also understand that being a JackJumper and a professional athlete is a huge commitment. We completely understand Tre’s reasoning and reassessment of his contract and wish him all the very best.

“We will be keeping in touch with Tre and leave the door open for him to be involved with the club in the future” Chivers said.

Armstrong graduated from California Baptist University in early 2023 before returning to Burnie, Tasmania where he is currently playing for the North West Tasmania Thunder in the NBL1 South.

The Tasmania JackJumpers are now considering multiple options as a replacement including Development Player and Injury Replacement contracts for the 2023/24 NBL season.
