Culture is King - JackJumpers fans urged to respect opposition

The JackJumpers are excited to host the NBL22 Champions, Sydney Kings on Friday night at MyState Bank Arena – the first time the teams have met at the Tasmanian home venue since last season’s Grand Final series.

The JackJumpers are proud to be laying cultural foundations based on humility and strong character, which we believe will provide a platform for long-term, sustained success.

"We really urge our fans to be really passionate but respectful in the way they support the club," Chief Commercial and Customer Officer, Christine Finnegan said.

"We don’t condone booing or heckling of anyone from the Kings, they’re a club with a long, successful history and incredible talent as they have again proven through their success so far this season.

"Tasmanians are humble, hardworking people and we’re proud to represent those values every single time we step on the court or engage with the community. We want our fans to uphold those values and respect the opposition as much as they respect our players."

The Grand Final series was an incredible experience for the JackJumpers in the inaugural season, and we are very hopeful of joining the Kings in the 2022/23 NBL Finals and compete for the Championship once again.

Any unsportsmanlike behaviour towards players, staff or other fans will not be tolerated at any JackJumpers games.

The JackJumpers will celebrate NBL Pride Round as part of the Round 17 game, with players to wear jerseys displaying the Champion Pride logo.

“The JackJumpers continue to champion and celebrate inclusion and diversity. We take pride in being the team for all Tasmanians and strive to create a place where everyone can belong and feel safe to be their true selves” Finnegan said.
