Tasmania JackJumpers navigate COVID-19 challenges

Tasmania JackJumpers have recorded two positive COVID-19 results via rapid antigen testing within the performance group and are awaiting PCR test results.

The cases have been isolated from the group and have not attended practice for the last 48 hours.  

At this stage all other players and staff have returned negative tests.

All players have been undertaking regular rapid antigen tests and following strict COVID-19 protocols.

“It’s an unfortunate but not unexpected scenario that we’re facing” JackJumpers CEO Simon Brookhouse said.

“Our priority is with the players’ safety, and we have taken a very cautious approach to avoid any further impacts on the team or the community”.

Tasmania has moved to Level 3 NBL COVID protocols due to the rising case numbers in the state, which requires significant increase in safety procedures and restrictions for the performance group and fans.

At this stage, the game between Tasmania JackJumpers and Sydney Kings on January 8 can proceed on the advice of Tasmanian Public Health authorities and in accordance with the NBL Level 3 COVID protocols.

Will Magnay and Jock Perry, who have been in isolation due to COVID-19 protocols, are likely to return to practice later this week pending medical and fitness testing.
