The Tasmania JackJumpers are on the hunt for exciting and energetic recruits to help further elevate the State’s best sporting entertainment experience!
Auditions for the Tas Gas JumpSquad will be held this Sunday 30 July at The Hutchins School in Sandy Bay, with some of Tasmania best dancers vying for a place in the 12-person squad.
“The Tas Gas Jump Squad is an amazing paid dance opportunity for local performers to showcase their talents and take our on-court performance and game day experience to the next level” Co-CEO Christine Finnegan said.
“We pride ourselves on hosting Tasmania’s most high-octane sporting entertainment experience, there’s never a dull moment at a JackJumpers game. The TasGas JumpSquad really do help lift the energy in our home Arenas, keeping the crowd hyped and elevating our on-court performance.
“JackJumpers home games are becoming known as one of the best sporting entertainment experiences not just in the NBL, but across Australian sport and we look forward to continuing to improve it even further this season” Finnegan said.
Auditions for the Tas Gas JumpSquad are open to performers over the age of 17. All genders and dance experience are welcome.
“Last year we doubled the number of performers who attended the auditions to 45, and we anticipate having a similar increase ahead of this season.
“Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of paid professional dance roles in Tasmania, so it’s a great opportunity to help retain Tasmanian talent in the State and allow them to do what they love here, rather than having to move interstate” Finnegan said.
18-year-old Laura Ackerley has been training Jenina’s Dance Workshop for more than 12 years.
She has been a part of the Tas Gas JumpSquad during both of the club’s first two season and says performing with the group has been an incredibly rewarding experience.
“It’s a really professional and supportive environment, we train really hard for those little snippets that the audience sees. It’s such an incredible atmosphere at the home Arenas and we just love the interactions with the crowd and families, it’s just electric and so fun” Ackerley said.
“But the best thing about the JumpSquad is the friendships and bond we’ve created as a group, is such a privilege to be part of.
“I’m really excited to audition again and hopefully have another great season” Ackerley said.
