Match Report v Adelaide 36ers (Round 5 NBL25)

The JackJumpers took the fight to the Adelaide 36ers at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre with a strong first half performance, before the 36ers fought back in the second to hold on for a 77-73 home victory.

The JackJumpers came out firing in the first quarter in Adelaide with Milton Doyle leading the way. He hit two early three balls to help Tasmania to a 15-4 lead on the back of scoring 10 consecutive points on the way to leading 22-13 by the end of the first quarter. Restricting Adelaide to their lowest-scoring quarter of their season thus far.

The JackJumpers got out to 11 just before half-time with another pair of free-throws to Doyle who had eight points going into the break, but a three on the buzzer for Adelaide cut Tasmania's advantage the 39-31. Milton Doyle and Jordon Crawford combining for 19 points in the opening half.

Adelaide had gone just 1/12 from deep in the first half, but that all started to change in the third quarter with the 36ers piling on 23 points to the JackJumpers 11.

They opened up their own 11-point lead in the fourth with the JackJumpers keeping things interesting late in the game before Adelaide eventually held out to win by four points.

Doyle finished the game with 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists on 5/10 three-point shooting.

Crawford added 13 points and six assists with Will Magnay contributing 11 points, six rebounds, two steals and two blocks, and Reuben Te Rangi nine points.

Speaking after the game Will Magnay spoke optimistically about the team’s ability show character in the last two games despite consecutive defeats in the round "There is a lot of potential and growth going forward, we will try and capitalise on the positives and learn from the negatives, I'm actually pretty excited about the team moving forward"

Scott Roth also spoke about the positives to draw from the team's defensive efforts across both games "If you had told me that we would hold Sydney to 80 and Adelaide 77 I would be really darn happy about that as they can both score with the ball at a really high level” he continued “We have to continue to ramp up how we can score a little bit better, and we have to have guys be a little bit more consistent across the board which will also help us. Our technical play is there, and I actually love the fact that we have a little bit of adversity."

The JackJumpers play away from home again next Saturday. Facing the Brisbane Bullets who sit 7^th in the league and hold a 2W/3L record this season.
