JackJumpers Point Guard Josh Magette will have surgery to repair his broken cheekbone and fractured eye socket this week following an accident in Sunday’s win over Illawarra.
Magette returned home to his family in Hobart on Tuesday with the assistance of Mazda Tasmania (LMG) and Spirit of Tasmania.
While the team will be preparing for the Seeding Qualifier against Cairns, Magette will undergo surgery in Hobart on Thursday.
“It’s been a crazy couple of days, but I’ve now seen the specialist and will have surgery on Thursday so hopefully be back on the mend soon. Thanks to everyone for all the calls, the texts, the messages… I really appreciate it” Magette said.
Magette will be assessed following surgery with his long term recovery and ongoing welfare the JackJumpers highest priority.
Captain Clint Steindl underwent an MRI on his hip prior to travelling to Melbourne for the NBL MVP Awards. He will be assessed after arriving in Cairns on Wednesday.
Will Magnay suffered a knock to the mouth in the Round 18 clash with the Hawks but will suit up for Thursday’s Play In tournament game.
