The Tasmania JackJumpers are delighted to confirm Sean Macdonald has re-signed as a Development Player for a second Hungry Jack’s NBL season.
“Sean is a fantastic young athlete who really made the most of his first year with us. I think his improvement and potential is exemplified by his selection in the Boomers squad this year” Head Coach Scott Roth said.
“He played a significant role for us in some crucial games in NBL22 and we look forward to seeing him continue to improve next year and beyond”.
Macdonald has signed a one year deal with aclub option for a further year as a contracted roster player.
The announcement comes as the Tasmania JackJumpers commence the search for the next Australian stars with applications now open for prospective JackJumpers Development Players ahead of the 2022/23 Hungry Jack’s NBL season.
The JackJumpers will look to recruit at least two more development players through an expression of interest application process followed by trials in August.
“It’s no secret what we’re looking for – humble and hungry guys, that are willing to buy in to our values and systems and do the work” Roth said.
“We can have up to four Development Players on the roster and we look forward to seeing the talent that is out there.
“Of course, we would love to recruit Tasmanian players where possible, but we will be looking far and wide to secure the best talent that are the right fit for us” Roth said.
Tasmanian and 2021/22 Development Player Sejr Deans will depart for the US College system in late June to join Jacksonville University’s Division 1 NCAA men’s basketball program in Florida.
Jock Perry will not qualify to be a Development Player in NBL23 due to age restrictions.
“We wish those guys the very best as they continue their careers, and we really do hope to see them back with the JackJumpers at some point in the future. They’ve been a huge part of our group in our inaugural season and will always be part of the JackJumpers family” Roth said.
Development Player applicants must be Australian or New Zealand born, under 25 years old (as at April 30 2023), have never been contracted by an NBL club and be available to trial in Hobart, Tasmania on Wednesday August 10, 2022.
Applications must submit an expression of interest no later than June 30, 2022 at https://q1cy80scbc4.typeform.com/to/yIRuH6Ng.
Applicants selected for trials will be notified by July 10, 2022.
