Chance steps up to Associate Head Coach role

Tasmania JackJumpers assistant coach Jacob Chance has been promoted to Associate Head Coach ahead of the 2022/23 Hungry Jack’s NBL season.
Head Coach Scott Roth says the promotion, which became effective from July 1, is reflective of Chance’s efforts throughout the club’s inaugural season and his future potential.
“Jacob has all the attributes of a successful head coach and we’re extremely lucky to have him on our coaching staff” Roth said.
“His work ethic, coaching prowess, and ability to get the best out of the guys is second to none and well ahead of his years. We’re excited to see him continue to develop and positively impact our group”.
Chance served as an Assistant Coach with the Perth Wildcats from 2019 – 2021 after starting at the club in 2015 as Video Coordinator and then Development Coach.
“Many good NBL players have become great NBL players under Jacob’s tutelage, both at the Wildcats and now the JackJumpers. He has been integral in amplifying the talents of our guys and helping embed a strong culture” Roth said.
28-year-old Chance is currently in Jakarta as part of the support staff for the Australian Boomers ahead of the FIBA Asia Cup which begins tomorrow, Tuesday July 12.
Chance also assisted the Boomers squad and Head Coach Brian Goorjian, throughout the recent FIBA World Cup qualifiers in Melbourne, where Australia went undefeated in three games against China and Japan.
Fellow assistant coaches Mark Radford and Jack Fleming have also had their contracts extended until at least the end of the 2023/24 Hungry Jack’s NBL season.
The announcements follow the re-signing of Head Coach Scott Roth earlier this year, which will see him remain in the top job until the end of the 2024/25 Hungry Jack’s NBL season.
“We’re delighted with the coaching staff we’ve assembled and the development of them both individually and as a group. We believe our guys are among the best in the League” CEO Simon Brookhouse said.
The JackJumpers coaching staff will continue to be supported by Major Partner, SRT Logistics in NBL23.
