In a major off-season coup, the Tasmania JackJumpers have secured star American guard Bryce Hamilton for the next two seasons of Hungry Jack’s NBL.
The 25-year-old Californian lit up the court for the JackJumpers in NBL26 averaging 18 points, before a devastating ACL rupture ended his season in January.
While Hamilton has been focused on his post-surgery recovery, JackJumpers Coach Scott Roth has been plotting to get him back.
“Part of our whole strategy this off-season was to figure out how we could get Bryce Hamilton back,” Roth said.
“The fact that we’ve been able to secure him for two years is really a great outcome for us and for him.
“We can help him through his rehab, get him back on the court sooner than later this season and then have him for a full healthy season too.”
Hamilton stunned in his debut NBL season that culminated in being named in the All-NBL26 Second-Team.
He’s approached his rehab with the same gusto as gameday since having surgery in February.
General Manager Basketball Operations Darren Smith said the team hoped Hamilton could be back playing at some point this season. “Having Bryce back continues to elevate us into Championship contention,” Smith said.
“He’s the kind of player who can rise to the big moments. When he has the ball, you can feel the tension in the arena heighten, the fans are on the edge of their seat because we all know something great is about to happen.”
The JackJumpers will soon announce an injury replacement player who’ll start the season.
