JackJumpers leaders finalists in NBL MVP Awards

Scott Roth’s incredible inaugural season as Tasmania JackJumpers Head Coach has been recognized with nomination as a finalist in the Hungry Jack’s NBL Lindsay Gaze Coach of the Year Award.

Roth has so far led the JackJumpers to 16 wins in the club’s first NBL season, leaving the club in NBL play-offs contention with one must-win game to play.

“Scott has really galvanised the group and laid an amazing foundation for the club to build success upon” CEO Simon Brookhouse said.

“While personal accolades definitely aren’t Scott’s motivation, the nomination is recognition of the sacrifices he has made and his efforts in bringing 15 new players together and instilling the values that have proven to produce success and will continue into future seasons”.

JackJumpers Captain Clint Steindl has also been named as a finalist in the Sixth Man of the Year category.

CEO Simon Brookhouse says the nomination is a deserved reward for Clint’s first season in new roles both on and off the court. 

“Clint is a team-first man that has adjusted to a change in role seamlessly and been integral to our consistency and success.

“We knew when he came from Perth he was an elite shooter particularly from the arc, but he has really leant into Scott’s vision with him coming off the bench and he’s having a huge impact in that role.

“Clint is the ultimate professional in everything he does and has been vital in setting and driving a positive culture for the club in it’s infancy” Brookhouse said.

The winner of The Andrew Gaze MVP Award, along with all other awards for the 2021/22 season, will be announced next Wednesday April 27, live on ESPN.

Other major categories include the NBL Andrew Gaze Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player and Best Defensive Player.

The winners of all other awards for the 2021/22 Hungry Jack’s NBL season will be announced next Wednesday April 27, live on ESPN. 

The All-NBL First Team, All-NBL Second Team, Executive of the Year, Referee of the Year presented by Europcar, Gametime by Kmart Award and Fans’ MVP presented by Chemist Warehouse will also be announced on the night.
