GAME DAY PREVIEW
Tasmania JackJumpers v Melbourne United
7:30pm, Thursday 1st October
MyState Bank Arena
Watch live on ESPN via Disney+, Foxtel, Kayo or Fetch
RECENT FORM
JackJumpers’ Captain Will Magnay will suit-up for his milestone 100th club game tonight in the Bass Strait Battle powered by Marinus Link against Melbourne United.
The JackJumpers will feature two new faces, with replacement players Kody Stattmann and Biwali Bayles stepping in while Ben Ayre and Anthony Drmic recover from injuries.
Fan favourite Majok Deng is also out, with scans revealing that the Forward fractured his left lower leg in the third quarter of the opening game of the season.
Coach Scott Roth is hopeful that Josh Bannan will be back from his rib injury in a game time decision which could give his team some extra depth.
“This is a marathon, not a sprint,” Roth said. “You learn things on the fly, you figure out things you have to get done, manufacture wins along the way and keep building as our guys come back.”
The JackJumpers have a strong record against United, winning 17 of 28 games including the epic NBL championship win in 2024.
The trip across Bass Strait is United’s first interstate game, with Head Coach Jacob Chance acknowledging they’re heading headfirst into enemy territory. “We’re going to get tested here with the physicality battle,” Chance said.
United is currently fifth on the ladder, having lost their season opener against the Adelaide 36ers 97-95, and a win against South East Melbourne 86-61 last week.
The JackJumpers are sixth on the ladder, after defeating South East Melbourne 96-91 in Round 1, and losing to the Cairns Taipans 93-87 in Round 2.
