GAME DAY PREVIEW
Tasmania JackJumpers v Adelaide 36ers
7:30pm, Friday 16th October
MyState Bank Arena
Watch live on ESPN via Disney+, Foxtel, Kayo or Fetch
RECENT FORM
The JackJumpers are coming in hot on the back of a three-game winning streak as they prepare to take on the Adelaide 36ers at MyState Bank Arena on Friday night.
Assistant Coach Mark Radford said the team was in a good position both on the ladder and physically.
“Spirits are high,” Radford said. “We wrapped training with good energy. But, there’s no easy game in the NBL. You can be one or two per cent off, and your game is done.”
The fixture pits the JackJumpers who have the second-best offence in the league (124.2 offensive rating) against the second-worst defensive side in Adelaide (121.2).
But, all eyes at the Nest will be on the epic match-up of local hero Taran Armstrong and league legend and reigning MVP Bryce Cotton.
The locals have the upper hand against the out of towners, winning 10 of the 15 encounters. The last time the teams met was Game 25 last season, when the JackJumpers defeated the 36ers 80-72 in Adelaide.
The game will also be a chance for fans to farewell JackJumper Anthony Drmic, who announced his retirement from the team and the NBL this week.
Fittingly, Drmic’s goodbye will take place in front of the team where his NBL career began, the 36ers where he won Rookie of the Year, and the team where he finished his stellar career, the JackJumpers.
Drmic thanked fans for their support: “The fans are so passionate here, the game day environment is so special, so loud, and it might sound cliché, but you truly do have a home court advantage when you play here because of our fans. I’ll miss that, but I’ll always remember it too.”
