Agent 97 Jarrad Weeks spies game 250

NBL veteran and JackJumpers Vice-Captain Jarrad Weeks will mark his 250^th NBL game when he steps on the court to take on Illawarra Hawks in the last regular season home game this Saturday.

“It’s something I never expected, never making a state team as a junior or anything like that. It just shows hard work can get you to the places you want to go. Playing for the Boomers was something I’ll cherish for a long time and 250 NBL games is amazing, and to be here [in Tasmania] now is incredible” Weeks said.

Weeks has played across five NBL Teams including Illawarra, where he found some success in the ‘Blood Jersey’, and adopting the nickname ‘Agent 97’ which has stuck with him ever since.

The JackJumpers will be treating Saturday’s game against last-placed Illawarra Hawks game like a play-offs match-up with the club desperate to lock in fourth position in the standings and secure a second chance in the 2022/23 Finals, and give ‘Weeksy’ a fitting celebration.

“It’s in our own hands, we’ve always said at this end of the season you control your own destiny and every game is touch, [Hawks] have got a lot to play for. Coenraad playing his last game, they sent Kev White off, they going to be going guns blazing, not just for pride, but they want to wreck our season”

“To be able to build this club the way we envisioned, lay the foundations and put things into place to keep everyone accountable everyday and stay true to who the JackJumpers want to be, it’s a special thing to be a part of.

“The communities gotten around us and it’s truly amazing what’s been creating in such a short time. I’ve been around the League to a few teams, but it’s special to start this from scratch” Weeks said.

“Surprisingly the body is feeling better than it has the last five years. I did a lot of work in the off-season and didn’t play in the off-season so I was able to get the body to where it is now. If Kenny and Whitey weren’t there, I’d be winning the sprints, but those two are like chasing racehorses”.

Weeks isn’t naïve to the fact he is in the latter part of his career, and says a Championship with Tasmania would be an incredible feat for the club in it’s infancy.

“It would mean everything to me. We play every year, go through everything we go through to try and win championships. We want it as a franchise, we want it as a community, we want it as a state” Weeks said.
