Tasmania JackJumpers Set for Action-Packed Schedule: Ready to Make Waves Across the Globe!
The Tasmania JackJumpers are set to embark on an exhilarating journey, packed with high-stakes competitions and dynamic events. As the team prepares to depart this Friday, excitement is building as they gear up for a series of thrilling challenges that will take them from the Gold Coast to Singapore, and finally to Perth. The JackJumpers are ready to proudly represent Tasmania on the global stage, showcasing the strength of Tasmanian sportsmanship.
This tour is powered by the support of our incredible partners. The University of Tasmania (UTAS) will be prominently featured on our Singapore uniform, symbolizing our strong connection with education and athletic excellence.
"All of Tasmania is extremely proud of the JackJumpers and everything they have achieved in such a short time in the NBL," said Michelle Weir, CMO at the University of Tasmania. "The University has its own special connection with the JackJumpers, with some of our alumni and current students among the members of the team and organization.
"Singapore is also a very important market for the University in recruiting international students. So, with the recent changes to international student caps announced by the Federal Government, this will be a welcome opportunity for us to showcase the best of Tasmania to Singapore and the world."
Tasmania will be represented on the upper back of the JackJumpers’ jerseys, as the team carries the state on their shoulders—both literally and figuratively. We are proud to represent the state and take Tasmania’s brand global.
Tourism Tasmania is also our ‘Official Air Sponsor.’ Tasmania’s pristine air, renowned as the cleanest in the world, symbolizes the freshness and purity that fuels the team’s success. This partnership underscores the strong connection between Tasmania’s unique environment and the athletic performance of the JackJumpers. Not only are we bringing our talent and determination, but we’re also taking a piece of Tasmania’s natural advantage with us—from the air in our lungs to the air inside the very basketballs we play with. Tasmania’s clean air is part of our winning formula.
Vanessa Pinto, Acting CEO of Tourism Tasmania, said: “We’re thrilled to have Tasmania represented on the global stage at the 2024 FIBA Intercontinental Cup and are proud to be the official ‘Air Sponsor’ for the JackJumpers during this tournament. With Singapore being a key international market for Tasmania, this is a fantastic opportunity to support the JackJumpers and highlight the unique appeal of our island to an international audience.”
Hobart Airport, our presenting partner for the JackJumpers’ away trips, is key to our journey. As Tasmania’s gateway to the mainland and the world, Hobart Airport is supporting us on this monumental trip to the Gold Coast, Singapore, and Perth. Fans will also have the chance to join the JackJumpers on an official 'Away Trip with the Team' to Perth later in the tour. While we are excited to take the JackJumpers brand globally, we equally love traveling on the road and returning home to Hobart Airport—and to Tasmania.
Norris Carter, CEO of Hobart Airport, said, “We’re thrilled to be the Tasmania JackJumpers’ official away trip partner, supporting them in taking Brand Tasmania to the world.”
Tasmania JackJumpers CEO, Christine Finnegan, highlighted the importance of this international journey: “The JackJumpers are not only here to compete but also to use the power of sport to connect Tasmania to new business opportunities. During our trip to Singapore, we will attend functions with the Australian High Commissioner and AustCham to strengthen ties and foster connections that benefit Tasmania."
Gold Coast – NBL Blitz (September 7-14, 2024)
The JackJumpers begin their tour at the NBL Blitz on the Gold Coast, where they will face top NBL competitors at the Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium and the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre.
Singapore – FIBA Intercontinental Cup (September 12-15, 2024)
The team will then head to Singapore to participate in the prestigious FIBA Intercontinental Cup, which brings together clubs from all five FIBA regions for the first time. This tournament highlights the global nature of basketball and offers the JackJumpers an opportunity to represent Tasmania on the world stage.
Tasmania JackJumpers Head Coach, Scott Roth, said, “We are proud to represent Tasmania on both national and international stages. Competing in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup is an exciting opportunity, and we are committed to making Tasmanians proud.”
Perth – HoopsFest (September 19-22, 2024)
The JackJumpers' journey will culminate in Perth at HoopsFest, Australasia’s biggest basketball, culture, and lifestyle festival. The team will face Melbourne United in a re-match of the historic NBL Championship Series on Thursday, September 19, at RAC Arena, ensuring an electrifying start to the 2024/25 NBL season.
