DEFEND THE ISLAND Finals Campaign, presented by Spirit of Tasmania
DEFEND THE ISLAND COMPETITION – Individuals / Families:
DEFEND THE ISLAND COMPETITION – Individuals / Families is open to all residents of Australia, including existing members and non-members of the Tasmania JackJumpers from the NBL 2023-24 season.
Participation is voluntary and involves getting creative submitting what it means to you to “Defend the Island” supporting the JackJumpers 23-24 finals run. This could include decorating your home, sharing memories you’ve had with the team, dressing up yourselves or your pets, creating videos or social media content, poems, artwork, chants, or any creative endeavour.
To be eligible to win you must send your entry to enquires@jackjumpers.com.au or by tagging @JackJumpers and hashtaging #DEFENDTHEISLAND on social media specifying you are entering the DEFEND THE ISLAND COMPETITION – Individuals and Families. The entry must be made before the Tasmania JackJumpers finals run is over.
The winning prize to be awarded is one (1) x 14-game Gold Memberships for a group of four (4) to the Tasmania JackJumpers NBL 24-25 season home games. This prize does not include tickets to finals of the NBL 24-25 season. The group of four is able to contain any make-up of adults or children, ie it does not need to be allocated to 2 adults and 2 children.
The prize is for 14 regular season home games at the MyState Bank Arena in Hobart and the Silverdome in Launceston (please note this does not include any priority access to post-season games and does not continue past the 24-25 season).
Chance plays no part in the allocation of this prize, and the 14-game Gold Membership for 4 people (not including finals) will be awarded to a Tasmania JackJumpers supporter by a panel of judges, choosing the winner at their discretion.
Participation in activities relating to the awarding of this prize may include some elements of risk. Your participation, wholly at your own discretion, releases JackJumpers, its staff, members and all other parties associated with organising the event (including any prize suppliers) from any responsibility or legal liability for death or personal injury associated with your presence at, and participation in, this competition. This release does not apply to significant personal injury caused by reckless conduct by the JackJumpers.
To the extent that the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) applies this release is limited to responsibility and legal liability for death or personal injury and does not apply to significant personal injury caused by reckless conduct by the JackJumpers.
By entering the competition, you consent to your entry (name may be used), without compensation, in films and images for use on social media and website, whether known or hereafter devised, and you release JackJumpers, from any liability whatsoever of any nature.
You consent to us (or our agents, contractors and assigns on our behalf) collecting your personal information and using and disclosing it for purposes which may include.
To organise, promote, operate and facilitate your safe participation.
To compile and maintain records and a database of participants.
To send you basketball-related information using the contact details you have provided, including about products, services and future activities or events that we think may be of interest to you (which you may opt out of receiving at any time).
You acknowledge that your personal information is collected and handled by us subject to the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and in accordance with the JackJumpers’ Privacy Policy. If you do not provide all the personal information we request or you do not consent to us collecting it, you may not be able to participate or to continue participating with JackJumpers.
DEFEND THE ISLAND COMPETITION – Businesses:
“DEFEND THE ISLAND COMPETITION - Businesses” is open to all businesses, organisations and workplaces of Australia.
Participation is voluntary and involves getting creative submitting what it means to you to “Defend the Island” supporting the JackJumpers 23-24 finals run. This could include decorating your business, sharing memories your business has had with the team, or creating videos or social media content in support of the Tasmania JackJumpers appearance in the Hungry Jack’s NBL Finals.
To be eligible to win you must send your entry to enquires@jackjumpers.com.au or by tagging @JackJumpers and hashtaging #DEFENDTHEISLAND on social media specifying you are entering the DEFEND THE ISLAND COMPETITION – Businesses. The entry must be made before the Tasmania JackJumpers finals run is over.
The winning prize to be awarded is 4 x courtside seats (Including hospitality) in NBL 24/25 season and 4 x Locked In VIP Tours to be used at 1 regular season home game.
The selection of the particular game will be at the sole discretion of the club. The club will endeavor to work with the winner to select a date that works for both parties, however this cannot be guaranteed.

DEFEND THE ISLAND COMPETITION – Schools
“DEFEND THE ISLAND COMPETITION - Schools” is open to all Schools in Tasmania.
Participation is voluntary and involves getting creative submitting what it means to your school to “Defend the Island” supporting the JackJumpers 23-24 finals run. This could include decorating your school, having a green-themed free dress day, sharing memories your school has had with the team or playing basketball, creating videos or social media content in support of the Tasmania JackJumpers appearance in the Hungry Jack’s NBL Finals.
The winning prize to be awarded is a visit from the Tasmania JackJumpers, and a pack of JackJumpers prizes. This visit may include JackJumpers players, coaches, community coaches, Bloodlines members, staff or our mascot Jack the Jumper. No appearance can be guaranteed and will be at the discretion of the JackJumpers. The prizes awarded to the school may include some of the following: basketballs, bouncy balls, stickers, caps and other promotional materials. The prize pack will be entirely at the discretion of the Tasmania JackJumpers.

The entry must be made before the Tasmania JackJumpers finals run is over.

To compile and maintain records and a database of participants.
To send you basketball-related information using the contact details you have provided, including about products, services and future activities or events that we think may be of interest to you (which you may opt out of receiving at any time).
You acknowledge that your personal information is collected and handled by us subject to the requirements of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and in accordance with the JackJumpers’ Privacy Policy. If you do not provide all the personal information we request or you do not consent to us collecting it, you may not be able to participate or to continue participating with JackJumpers.
Eligibility and Entry:
Entry to the Promotion is only open to individuals who (Eligible Person):
Are permanent Australian Residents aged 16 years or older and excludes employees (and their Immediate Families) of the Promoter and agencies associated with this Promotion including the Businesses (and their Immediate Families). All entrants must read and consent to these Terms and Conditions as a condition of entry into the Promotion. For the purposes of these Terms & Conditions, “Australian Resident” means a person who resides in Australia at the start of the Promotion Period and who holds Australian citizenship or holds an Australian permanent residency visa. “Immediate Family” means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or stepchild (whether natural or by adoption), parent, stepparent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, stepbrother, stepsister or first cousin.
Entrants under 18 years old must have parental/guardian approval to enter and further, the parent/guardian of the entrant must read and consent to these Terms and Conditions. Parents/guardians may be required by the Promoter to enter into a further agreement as evidence of consent to the minor entering this Promotion.
General:
The Promoter assumes no responsibility for any failure to receive an entry in the Promotion or for inaccurate information by any person or for any loss, damage, or injury as a result of technical or telecommunications problems, including security breaches. If such problems arise, then the Promoter may modify the Promotion.
Entrants agree that they are fully responsible for any materials they submit via the Promotion including but not limited to comments, recordings, and images (Content). The Promoter shall not be liable in any way for such Content to the full extent permitted by law. The Promoter may remove or decline to publish any Content without notice for any reason whatsoever. Entrants warrant and agree that without limiting any other terms herein, the entrant agrees to indemnify the Promoter for any breach of the above terms.
As a condition of entering this Promotion, each entrant licenses and grants the Promoter a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide, irrevocable, and sub-licensable right to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish and display their entry (which shall include Content) for any purpose, including but not limited to future promotional, marketing or publicity purposes, in any media, without compensation, restriction on use, attribution or liability.
Entrants consent to the Promoter using their name, likeness, image and/or voice in the event they are a winner (including photograph, film and/or recording of the same) in any media for a reasonable period without remuneration for the purpose of promoting this Promotion (including any outcome), and promoting any products manufactured, distributed and/or supplied by the Promoter, connection with the Promotion.
If this Promotion is interfered with in any way or is not capable of being conducted as reasonably anticipated due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter, including but not limited to technical difficulties, unauthorised intervention or fraud, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to the fullest extent permitted by law:
to disqualify any entrant; or
subject to any written directions from a regulatory authority, to modify, suspend, terminate or cancel the Promotion, as appropriate.
Any cost associated with entering this competition is the entrant’s responsibility.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits, excludes or modifies or purports to limit, exclude or modify the statutory consumer guarantees as provided under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth), as well as any other implied warranties under the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001 (Cth) or similar consumer protection laws in the States and Territories of Australia (Non-Excludable Guarantees). Except for any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter and the Businesses (including their respective officers, employees and agents) exclude all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Promotion.
Except or any liability that cannot by law be excluded, including the Non-Excludable Guarantees, the Promoter and the Businesses (including their respective officers, employees and agents) are not responsible for and excludes all liability (including negligence), for any personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of:
any technical difficulties or equipment malfunction (whether or not under the Promoter’s control);
any theft, unauthorised access, or third-party interference.
any entry or prize claim that is late, lost, altered, damaged, or misdirected (whether or not after their receipt by the Promoter) due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of the Promoter.
any variation in prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions.
any tax liability incurred by a winner or entrant; or
taking of the prize/attendance at the prize event.
Personal Information
The Promoter collects personal information (PI) in order to conduct the Promotion and may, for this purpose, disclose such PI to National Basketball League Pty Ltd (NBL) and other third parties, including but not limited to agents, contractors, service providers, prize suppliers and, as required, to Australian regulatory authorities. Entry is conditional on providing this PI. The Promoter and the NBL will also use, and handle PI as set out in their respective Privacy Policies at the NBL. In addition to any use that may be outlined in the Privacy Policies identified above, the Promoter and the NBL may, for an indefinite period, unless otherwise advised, use the PI for promotional, marketing, publicity, research and profiling purposes, including sending electronic messages or telephoning the entrant.
The Privacy Policies also contain information about how entrants may opt out, access, update or correct their PI, how entrants may complain about a breach of the Australian Privacy Principles or any other applicable law and how those complaints will be dealt with. All entries become the property of the Promoter and the NBL. Subject to all relevant laws, the Promoter or the NBL may disclose entrant's PI to any entity outside of Australia in accordance with their respective Privacy Policies.
The laws of Australia apply to this Promotion to the exclusion of any other law. Entrants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Tasmania, Australia.
