Tasmania’s favourite JackJumper Majok Deng has re-signed with the club for the upcoming 2026-27 NBL season.
Deng has inked a new two-year contract that locks him in until 2028, taking his term at the club to five seasons.
It’s great news for the club and fans alike, with the 205cm power forward winning the hearts and votes of fans two years in a row, taking out Fan Favorite at the annual club MVP Awards.
The 33-year-old father of two – daughter Akur, six, and son Junior, four - said he and his family loved Tasmania and the club.
“It means the world to me and my family to call Tasmania and the JackJumpers home,” Deng said. “Our hearts belong to this place, and this team.
“As a player, I couldn’t ask for a more supportive coach, high performance team and club, and I want to continue to work hard and do them proud on and off the court.”
General Manager of Basketball Operations Darren Smith said Deng was an invaluable asset to the team.
“Majok is always one of our greatest performers on court, and this season was no different,” Smith said.
“Majok is an impact player, he’s been the difference between us winning or losing more times than I’d like to count this season, and his entire time at the club for that matter.
“His versatility is a huge asset to the team, he can fill multiple roles at a very high standard - he can play centre or forward positions and utilise his shooting and ability to attack the rim, he just has every base covered.”
Coach Scott Roth said Deng was a standout on and off the court for the team.
“We’re all very happy to have Majok and his family with us for another two years,” Roth said.“It’s really important to have continuity as a club, and also to have a player of his stature in our ranks.
“But it’s really his role in the team that is valuable. Majok has really grown as a leader in the past three seasons.
“He’s one of my all-time favorite guys, and an incredible father to his kids, and father figure in the club too.”
