RECENT FORM

It’s a top of the ladder clash that promises to keep fans on the edge of their seats when the ladder leading JackJumpers take on second place Sydney Kings at the Silverdome tonight.

The JackJumpers have had a stellar start to Hungry Jack’s NBL27, with a 6-2 win-loss record and proven depth across the team right from their longest serving player and Captain Will Magnay to this year’s newcomer Tasmanian Taran Armstrong.

But the JackJumpers will be eyes wide open to the challenge that the in-form Kings pose.

The defending champions have six wins and three losses, and are Launceston bound on the back of defeating the Wildcats at the Perth RAC Arena on Wednesday night.

Last year’s Finals MVP Kendric Davis was instrumental in the Kings’ victory, with a stellar first quarter of stats: 7/7 from the field for 16 points with 2 assists and no turnovers.

JackJumpers Assistant Coach Nate Brereton said the Kings were “dangerous” but the locals are prepared.

“I suppose it’s an advantage that we’ve had a little time to recover after our three games in six days,” Brereton said.

“But you can’t rest or relax at all when you’re playing the Kings, we have to be on point.”

It’s the first time the two teams have met this season. The Kings hold the upper hand in the record books, with a 12-7 win-loss record.

JackJumpers sharpshooter David ‘DJ’ Johnson said it was going to be good test for the Tasmanians, but they’re ready to fight.

“It feels great, it’s one of the better teams I’ve played with in all my career,” Johnson said.

“Super excited, we got a chance to look at Sydney a couple of times pre-season. When you’re playing against an organisation like that, defending champs, it’s always going to be a dog fight.”
