Be part of history and etch your name on the Championship Wall by making a tax-deductible donation here: Defend the Island Foundation (jackjumpers.com.au)
To celebrate the 2023/24 Championship, the Tasmania JackJumpers, spearheaded by Championship Coach Scott Roth, are inviting all supporters to be a part of history by etching their name on a Championship wall at each of the club’s home venues.
The Tasmania JackJumpers are proud to launch the club’s new charity arm, the Defend the Island Foundation, which will raise funds to support more community initiatives around the state that will enable more Tasmanians access to play basketball and create a platform for the JackJumpers to share their story with children across the state through the club’s community programs.
The first initiative of the Defend the Island Foundation is the JackJumpers Championship Wall where fans can etch their name in history through a $10 tax-deductible donation.

“We’re calling on all Tasmanians near and far to be part of this championship with us by having their name on this commemorative wall, while donating to the foundation which will help us continue and expand our presence and reach in the community” Head Coach Scott Roth said.
Jointly launching the initiative with Roth, CEO Christine Finnegan said “lets continue to Defend the Island and in turn invest in community initiatives around the state to allow more people to engage in and with our game”.
“This is a win, win, win – make a tax-deductible donation, be part of history with your name on the Championship Wall and support the community” Finnegan said.
Each fan will have their name included on the Championship wall which will be proudly displayed at MyState Bank Arena and the Launceston Silverdome at home games in the 24/25 Season, before finding a permanent home at a future high-performance facility as well as a virtual wall which will sit on the JackJumpers website.
Together with the Australian Sports Foundation, the JackJumpers are seeking to garner the support of local Tasmanians, interstate or international expats and JackJumpers fans everywhere to continue to Defend the Island.
The Championship Wall will sit behind the Championship trophy at the club’s home venues in the 24/25 NBL season.
“The players are proud to carry the island map on their playing jerseys and this will be a fantastic dedication to our fans and their contribution to our club, and to the community” Finnegan said.
“Your name on the Championship Wall” is the first initiative of the Defend the Island Foundation, with several other initiatives to follow including an athlete development program and a basketball academy in the future.
“While we say ‘Island Defended’ following our championship win, the mantra extends far further than the court and that mission is far from over. We want to inspire and help more kids to play the game, and to continue to bring the community together” Finnegan said.
The Defend the Island Foundation comes off the back of the JackJumpers Finals Campaign, encouraging Tasmanians to show their support which helped spur on the club’s first ever NBL Championship.
Donations over $2 are tax deductible and contribution of any amount will directly fund community initiatives in Tasmania through the Australian Sports Foundation.
