Launceston – it’s your turn! We can’t wait to make a new Nest at the Silverdome, and celebrate the NBL’s Indigenous Round as we take on the NZ Breakers.
The when and where?
Saturday 5 March
5.30pm
Silverdome, Launceston
Tell me about the NBL’s Indigenous Round?
We are very proud to celebrate Tasmanian aboriginal people and culture as part of the NBL’s Indigenous Round.
Our players will be wearing a jersey designed by palawa (Tasmanian aboriginal) artist Sharnie Read. The jersey shows rock art, found around Tassie, some dating back 14,000 years old. The cultural symbols – known as petroglyphs – are a true representation of the depth of history of belonging to our island.
The jersey includes a jack jumper on a mound. Our artist used lines and other cultural symbols to connect Tasmania’s native insect, the jack jumper, to ancient aboriginal artwork – the petroglyphs.
The jersey also features lutruwita – the word for Tasmania. We are very proud to wear this jersey on Saturday and know our fans are excited to see it too!
Sharnie Read will be attending the game with her family and will deliver a traditional Welcome at the start of the game.
At half time we will enjoy a cultural performance by Tasmanian aboriginal people, led by Dave Gough. This is a performance of clapping sticks, voice and dance.
What activities are happening pre-game?
Arrive early for plenty of activities! On the concourse our SRT Cool Zone will include facepainting, a balloon artist, giant bubbles, and your chance to really show you’re a JackJumper fan by getting decked out in JJs temporary tattoos and green hairspray!
Want more? Ok how about some free stuff? We’ll have lots of fun giveaways, plus our wonderful partners Bulk Nutrients, Mazda and MyState Bank will be there with giveaways galore too. Make sure you arrive with plenty of room in your purse! ?
How do I access my ticket?
Tickets are all digital!
For our members, log in to your account by clicking the link below and download your ticket to your digital wallet.
If you purchased tickets to this game only you should have been sent both an email and a text message from Ticketek. Bring this on your smartphone.
I hear there are Express Metro buses running to the game?
Correct! Express services running to the Silverdom from Launceston CBD every 15 minutes from 3.45-5.00pm. Details here.
What about parking?
Yes, the Silverdome has free parking. But please arrive early – we’re expecting another full house!
Will merchandise be available for sale?
Absolutely. Come along for your JackJumpers jerseys, caps and of course your own Indigenous Round jersey by Tasmanian palawa artist Sharnie Read.
What about those who can't make it? How can I tell them to watch the game?
All our games are broadcast on ESPN, which means they’ll be available to watch on Foxtel and Kayo.
How will this event be Covid safe?
Don't forget your face mask! You’ll be asked to wear it during the event. Thanks for being part of our Covid-safe event!
We’re looking forward to finally playing some bball in the north! Let’s turn Launnie GREEN for the day!
