The Tasmania JackJumpers welcome the Tasmanian Government’s positive response to the club’s change in preferred location of the High-Performance Centre and their ongoing support.
“We’re delighted with the swift response from the Acting Minister and the Government’s support in pursuing Kingston as the home of the club’s High-Performance Centre” CEO Christine Finnegan.
The proposal also has the full support of the Kingborough Council, and we thank Mayor Paula Wriedt and her team’s work in this process.
“Many players, coaches and staff already live in the Kingborough municipality, and we look forward to further embedding ourselves into the community, and having a purpose-built facility for our program, and to share with the people of Kingborough and beyond.
“We now look forward to working closely with the Government and Kingborough Council to assess the feasibility of the two sites adjacent to Kingborough Sports Centre and finalise the most suitable location for construction as soon as possible” Finnegan said.
The planning and construction of a High-Performance Centre in Kingston will not impact the Government and club’s commitment to build community courts in the Glenorchy precinct and service the growth of the game in that area.
The location of the High-Performance Centre will also not affect MyState Bank Arena remaining as the club’s southern home games venue.
