GAME DAY PREVIEW
Tasmania JackJumpers v New Zealand Breakers
3:00 pm, Sunday 18th October
MyState Bank Arena
Watch live on ESPN via Disney+, Foxtel, Kayo or Fetch
RECENT FORM
The Tasmania JackJumpers have just over 40-hours to prepare for their next 40-minute hit out, and coach Scott Roth is using every second to prepare his side for the Breakers on Sunday.
The JackJumpers lost their first game at home this season on Friday night, with the 36ers unstoppable Bryce Cotton proving why he’s the league’s six-time MVP.
Roth and the team are shaking it off, focusing on recovery and the next game-plan: beating the neighbours from across the ditch.
“We’ll rest up and get to go again on Sunday, which is the exciting part of playing in short turnaround, you sort of wash all this away and we’ll move on,” Roth said.
“The nice thing about the new High Performance Training Centre is it has all the gadgets to allow our players to help their recovery which we haven’t had in the past.”
The Tasmanians will be looking to equal the ledger with the Kiwis, with an 11-12 win-loss record.
The last time the teams met was the epic Game 30 clash last season, when the JackJumpers won 91-89 with the unforgettable near buzzer-beater from David Johnson (DJ) in the dying 13 seconds of the game.
The New Zealanders are currently fourth on the ladder, with four wins from seven games this season.
Their powerhouse forward Sam Mennenga is in top form, having become the first player in Breakers’ history, and the first in the NBL’s 40-minute era, to post 40 points and 18 rebounds in a game.
JackJumpers fans have the chance to see a third game in four days, with the first NBL Ignite Cup home game on Wednesday night at MyState Bank Arena against the Brisbane Bullets. Get your tickets HERE
