290-game NBL stalwart Clint Steindl has once again been voted as Captain of the club for a third season. But the leadership group will have a new dynamic in the 2023/24 Hungry Jack’s NBL season with Jack McVeigh and Fabijan Krslovic voted in by the playing group as Vice Captains.
Steindl has helped lead the club to consecutive NBL finals appearances in the first two seasons of the club’s history and the 34-year-old is thrilled to remain in the role and continue to set the standard as the club grows out of its infancy.
“It’s a real privilege to be voted in by your peers and I’m excited to take on the role once again.
“The first two years have been amazing, but every year you have to get better, the league gets better and you have to continue to lift the standard in pursuit of that ultimate goal” Steindl said.
Inaugural season teammates, housemates, and close friends Jack McVeigh and Fabijan have been voted in by the playing group as Vice Captains for the first time.
“We’ve both been here from the start and so it’s really special to be able to do this with one of my best friends” McVeigh said.
“I think it’s about leading by example, getting to know guys and investing in them, getting to know their goals and how I can help them achieve that”.
Clint’s wife Kayla, and children Noah and Addison were in the team room for the announcement along with the entire front office, players and coaching staff, while Jack’s fiancé Beth and Fabijan’s parents watched the announcement on Zoom from interstate.
“I had a little inkling something was up when Rat [Mark Radford] asked what my Dad’s work hours are but nah it’s super special for them to be able to share in that, I know they’re really proud, not just of this, but of everything the club has been able to achieve and continues to” Krslovic said.
“We’ve been living and breathing the culture and the values of this every day, so it’s exciting to help progress that even further in this role and have that added responsibility”.
The trio will lead the JackJumpers at the NBL Blitz on the Gold Coast from this Saturday 16 September.
