Brown signing completes JackJumpers NBL23 puzzle

The Tasmania JackJumpers are pleased to announce the signing of talented guard Walter Brown as a Development Player for the 2022/23 Hungry Jack’s NBL season.

The club has completed an extensive search for emerging talent across Australia and New Zealand including the JackJumpers’ first ever Development Player trials, from which centre Josh Tomasi was selected.

Brown was invited to join a subsequent JackJumpers practice in mid-august and has now been signed as the club’s third development player.

“We feel Walter brings a really competitive edge to our group. He’s an underdog who has been eager for an opportunity in the NBL and we’re pleased to have him here in Tasmania” Head Coach Scott Roth said.

“He’s a really athletic wing who has that grit and grind mentality that our program is built on”.

6’3 Brown hails from Christchurch New Zealand and has just completed his second season in the New Zealand NBL with the Canterbury Rams, averaging 7.2 points and 3 rebounds per game.

“Walter is the last piece of the puzzle and we’re really pleased with the group we have brought together. The guys are already gelling well together in the initial week of practice but there is a long way to go and a lot of work to do before October 1” Roth said.
