Three iconic Tasmanian teams are joining forces and heading back to the classroom as part of a new schools program to help students grow and learn beyond the basketball court.
The JackJumpers and Jewels Schools Program presented by Banjo’s will teach young Tasmanians about resilience, diversity, nutrition and exercise.
The free program aligns with the Australian curriculum and is being rolled out this term in around 100 grade three and four classrooms across public and private schools.
Jewels and JackJumpers Head of Community Fran Lockhart said sport and sporting teams have an incredible platform to teach kids about being healthy and happy.
“At our club, our teams take great pride in having a strong culture based on being humble and hungry, kind and thoughtful, and always giving their best effort to improve,” Fran said.
“We’re taking that culture from the court to the classroom so young Tasmanians can share in the great lessons that make the JackJumpers and Jewels great teams and team players.
“Students will learn from our coaches, players and mascots Jack the Jumper and Queenie about health, nutrition, diversity and resilience.”
Banjo's Head of Marketing Gustav Lammerding expressed excitement at the re-signing of a new community partnership after being involved with the JackJumpers clinics over the past three years.
“Banjo's is honoured to be part of such an important program that helps the future of Tasmania develop healthy habits and a greater sense of community,” Mr Lammerding said.
“The Banjo's Purpose Statement starts with ‘Enriching Communities’, something we know the Jewels and JackJumpers align with us on. It is the reason why this partnership looks to be extremely meaningful to everyone involved.”
