Tasmania JackJumpers Secure Christmas Day Victory Over Breakers for Seventh Straight

The Tasmania JackJumpers delivered a festive victory at MyState Bank Arena, defeating the New Zealand Breakers 97-82 on Christmas Day. The win marks Tasmania’s seventh consecutive victory and solidifies their position in the NBL’s top four.

Jordon Crawford was pivotal once again, coming off the bench to score 26 points, including six three-pointers, while adding four assists. Majok Deng stepped up with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Reuben Te Rangi and Milton Doyle added 12 and eight points, respectively, with Doyle also dishing out five assists.

The match showcased the JackJumpers’ incredible turnaround this season. After starting 3-8, Tasmania now boasts a 10-8 record, continuing to prove their championship credentials.

Tasmania’s defensive effort was key, limiting the Breakers to just 4-of-23 shooting from beyond the arc and forcing them into inefficiency at the foul line (16-of-28). In contrast, the JackJumpers shot a sharp 12-of-27 from deep, with Crawford leading the charge.

Despite the final scoreline, the game remained tight through the first three quarters. New Zealand’s Tacko Fall made a significant impact in the first half, finishing with 11 points, nine rebounds, and three blocks. His presence helped the Breakers stay within striking distance, trailing by only three at halftime (42-39).

Tasmania turned the tide in the third quarter, closing on an 8-2 run to establish a six-point lead heading into the final term. From there, the JackJumpers found another gear, extending their advantage behind timely buckets from Crawford and a three-point play by Doyle to secure the 15-point victory.

Head Coach Scott Roth expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance, stating:
"It wasn’t pretty, but our guys just kept grinding and stuck with it. It was a much better Christmas performance than last year, and I’m proud of the way the team continues to grow and find ways to win."

The JackJumpers will remain at home to host the Brisbane Bullets on Sunday, aiming to extend their winning streak to eight.
