The Tasmania JackJumpers have officially signed Kody Stattmann to their roster for Hungry Jack’s NBL27 in the wake of the retirement of Anthony Drmic.
The 26-year old from Cairns was given a second chance by the JackJumpers, who recruited Stattmann ahead of Round 3 as an Injury Replacement Player.
Now, the Queenslander with basketball in his blood will call the Nest home for the season.
JackJumpers Coach Scott Roth described Stattmann as being labelled by the league before he was thrown the lifeline by the JackJumpers, making an impact from that first game.
“Kody was…basically on the street about 10 days ago but now he’s playing in an NBL game for us and having an important contribution,” Roth said.
“It’s a great credit to these guys trying to change the label of what people may think about them. We’ll just keep reloading and keep finding players that want to do it the Jackies way.”
Meanwhile, JackJumper Ben Ayre is continuing his rehab for his hip-flexor injury, with 23-year old guard Biwali Bayles extending his Nominated Replacement Player tenure for another week.
