The Tasmania JackJumpers will take on the Brisbane Bullets in the fifth annual Teal Game at MyState Bank Arena this Friday night.
The JackJumpers currently sit in sixth spot and continue to fight for play-offs, with a 13-17 record for the season.
Confidence is building after an epic two-point win against the New Zealand Breakers on Sunday despite losing Ben Ayre for the remainder of the regular season.
The Bullets meanwhile are fighting to avoid the wooden-spoon and end a nine-game losing streak, with a 6-23 record for the season so far.
It’s an uphill battle for the Bullets, who are also nursing several injuries and the loss of guard Terry Taylor, suspended after an on-court brawl against the 36ers last week.
JackJumpers Coach Scott Roth said he remained wary of the Bullets after they claimed victory in the dying minutes of a tense 83-81 game in November.
“All these games are hugely important, everyone is playing for something irrespective of where you are in the schedule,” Roth said.
“They took care of us last time here in a buzzer-beater in the last minute of the game.
“If they come with some of their healthy bodies, which we hear they might, we’ll have our hands full again.”
The Bullets Coach Darryl McDonald has labelled the game against the JackJumpers “winnable” in a double-header weekend for his side.
While Alex Ducas has been confirmed to return from injury, McDonald isn’t giving much else away, hinting that there’s a chance that Tyrell Harrison and Sam McDaniel may return.
The JackJumpers will be playing with extra passion when they take to the court for the fifth annual Teal Game, in support of charity partner SHE Gynaecological Cancer Group.
The Teal Game aims to raise awareness and funds to help establish Tasmania’s first Cancer Wellness Centre, with $250,000 raised since the Teal Game’s inception in 2022.
