Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation, Tasmania JackJumpers have schedule changes in the upcoming Round 7 of the Hungry Jack’s NBL.
Tasmania JackJumpers home game against the New Zealand Breakers, scheduled for Friday 14th January at MyState Bank Arena, has been postponed.
JackJumpers CEO Simon Brookhouse said “it was aways going to be very challenging to get up for this game with the number of guys we had struck down with the virus, and unfortunately we won’t get medical clearance for enough to play in Friday’s
scheduled game”.
“The affected players and staff are definitely over the worst of it, but the virus has impacted each individual differently and some do need a few more days to recover and return to court.
“We have sought Public Health and medical advice, and we cannot risk their health or new injuries by putting them out on court prematurely.
“We understand this is disappointing for our fans and partners. However, we must prioritise our players’ health and safety, and ensure we are fighting fit for the rest of the season” Brookhouse said.
Tasmania JackJumpers will also not be available to travel to the Round 7 away game against Adelaide 36ers scheduled for January 16.
Both games will be rescheduled for a later date to be determined.
JackJumpers fans in Tasmania will still be able to see the team in action next week as part of an amended Round 7 schedule, as the League gets the season back up and running.
The New Zealand Breakers will play a home game against the Tasmania JackJumpers on Wednesday, 19 January at 7.30pm at MyState Bank Arena.
Tasmania JackJumpers Partners, Corporates and members will have presale access to individual tickets for this game however, as it is a New Zealand Breakers home game, it will be fully ticketed with no JackJumpers corporate or membership offering.
“It’s exciting to have even more NBL games being played in Tasmania and to give fans even more opportunity to watch the team” Brookhouse said.
“We’re pleased to be able to give New Zealand a home away from home for this game and allow them to generate some ticket revenue in what has been a really challenging 18 month period for their organisation.
“Our staff will assist the NBL and the Breakers to deliver the operational requirements for the game put on a great spectacle for the fans” Brookhouse said.
More information on ticket sales for the January 19 game, as well as ticket reallocation or refunds for the postponed January 14 home game, will be distributed as soon as possible.
Tasmania JackJumpers will continue to follow the advice of governments and health authorities and undergo regular testing.
