Tasmania JackJumpers Welcome Three New Members to the Bloodlines Program

The Tasmania JackJumpers are thrilled to announce the induction of three esteemed individuals into the Tasmania Bloodlines Group, further strengthening the deep ties between the club and the rich history of basketball in Tasmania. We areproud to welcome Tony Fulton, Nita Burke, and Adam Gibson to the Bloodlines family, where their significant contributions to the sport will be celebrated and honoured.

The Tasmania Bloodlines, an initiative spearheaded by Head Coach Scott Roth, was established to recognise and pay tribute to the individuals who have played pivotal roles in shaping the landscape of basketball in Tasmania. The program aims to connect the history of the sport with its future, ensuring that the legacy of past players, coaches, referees, and administrators continues to inspire the next generation.

Tony Fulton has been a central figure in the development of basketball in Tasmania for decades. His tireless efforts as a leader, administrator, and advocate for the sport have left an indelible mark on the basketball community. From his role as President of Basketball Tasmania to his instrumental work in establishing the Hobart Tassie Devils program, Tony's influence has been profound. His dedication to the growth of the sport, both in Tasmania and beyond, is unmatched.

Nita Burke (née French) is a true pioneer of Australian basketball. After transitioning from a successful junior netball career, Nita represented Tasmania and Australia on the international stage, becoming the first female basketballer from Australia to compete overseas. Her leadership as the captain of the Australian team during the 1963 Asian tour and her contributions as a coach and administrator following her retirement from competition have cemented her legacy as one of the sport's greats.

Adam Gibson represents the modern era of Tasmanian basketball excellence. Born in Launceston, Adam's journey from local competitions to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and onto the world stage is a testament to his talent and dedication. With a distinguished 16-year career in the National Basketball League (NBL), including two championships and multiple accolades, Adam has also proudly represented Australia in the Olympic Games and FIBA World Cups.
