History will be made when the Tasmania JackJumpers open the 2021/22 Hungry Jack’s NBL season at their state of the art new home, MyState Bank Arena on Friday, December 3rd 2021. Tasmanian fans will be the first in the country to witness NBL22 action as the JackJumpers host Adelaide 36ers in what will mark a new era in the state’s history and national sporting landscape.

“Tasmanians have waited a long time to see, support and celebrate a Tasmanian team back on the national stage, and so we’re thrilled that the NBL has entrusted us and the MyState Bank Arena team to ignite the NBL22 season, and end that wait for Tasmanian basketball fans” JackJumpers CEO, Simon Brookhouse said.

The season opener is among a number of key highlights in an exciting fixture for the JackJumpers’ inaugural NBL season. The JackJumpers will host a blockbuster game on Boxing Day against the New Zealand Breakers, and ring in 2022 with a must-see game against reigning NBL Champions, Melbourne United in a New Years’ Day spectacular.

“We couldn’t have asked for much more in our inaugural NBL fixture. We are delighted with the games and times we have been able to secure for this historic time in the League and our state’s history” Brookhouse said.

The Tasmania JackJumpers have secured five sought after Friday night home games, and three Sunday afternoon fixtures in prime broadcast time slots, plus an exciting school holiday fixture.

“We cannot wait to bring an unrivalled entertainment experience to Tasmania, and see the foundations of this Club finally come to life on the court. We pushed for timeslots that will give Tasmanian fans of all ages the best chance to see the team live.

“Each and every game will be an unrivalled entertainment experience and a real celebration of the JackJumpers, our valued partners and the Tasmanian community”.

The JackJumpers Executive team is working with the NBL and the Silverdome’s management to secure dates for the JackJumpers’ home games at the Launceston venue.

“There is still a little bit of work to be done at the Silverdome to upgrade lighting for broadcast and get the venue up to NBL standard.

“We’re looking forward to locking in some dates in February or March, and sharing them with our members and bringing elite basketball back to Tasmania’s north.

“We’re also working with our partners to provide transport options for northern fans to access our games at MyState Bank Arena” Brookhouse said.

The National Basketball League and all 10 NBL Clubs have worked through significant challenges to draft a fixture that adheres to current and foreseeable restrictions to ensure games can be played safely and fairly, and to give fans the best chance to see NBL action.

The 2021/22 Hungry Jack’s NBL season start date on December 3 allows for greater confidence in navigating the current environment.

“The NBL is a fan-first product and playing in front of crowds is vital for the league and our clubs. Giving supporters an even better chance of seeing their teams compete at home was a key driver in moving things back slightly and in how we’ve structured the schedule.”

The home and away season will conclude at the end of April, with the finals series to run through May 2022.
