JackJumpers to farewell and thank CEO Christine Finnegan at end of NBL26 season

The Tasmania JackJumpers and Tasmania Jewels have today announced the club will farewell long-standing administrator Christine Finnegan at the end of the 2025/26 NBL Season. 

Finnegan has resigned from her role as Chief Executive Officer to return home to Melbourne and take on a Senior Executive position with Netball Australia and Suncorp Super Netball. 

Finnegan has been an instrumental force behind the JackJumpers since joining the organisation at its inception into the League in 2020, guiding the club through significant growth and success on and off the court.

Chair Steve Old congratulated Finnegan on her five-year tenure and immeasurable impact.

“Through Christine’s leadership, which has always put people and the Tasmanian Community at the forefront of decision-making, the JackJumpers cemented their reputation as one of the most competitive teams in the NBL.

“Christine’s warmth and energy have been instrumental in building a strong connection with the fan-base and the Tasmanian public and has been pivotal in establishing, growing and nurturing the club’s strong commercial partner network, and in securing the Tasmania’s WNBL license” Old said.

“We wish Christine all the very best for the next chapter of her impressive career” he said.

Finnegan said her journey with the JackJumpers and in the State of Tasmania has been a highlight of her 25-year career in professional sport.

“It has been an incredible privilege to lead the Tasmania JackJumpers for the past five years. I am immensely proud of what we have achieved together - our on-court success, our growth as a club, and the deep connection we’ve built with the Tasmanian community.

“I know I will leave the club in a very strong position, and having secured the license for our WNBL team, the Tasmania Jewels, there is such a wealth of opportunity to grow the game and the impact of the club even further. 

“The JackJumpers and the Jewels will always hold an incredibly special place in my heart, and I will watch on closely and passionately as the club enters this new era” she said.

Finnegan will remain in her role until the conclusion of the 2025/26 NBL Season.

The JackJumpers and Jewels will soon open an Expression of Interest process for the CEO role to ensure a smooth executive leadership transition.
