We are thrilled to announce that Jack McVeigh and Will Magnay from the Tasmania JackJumpers have been selected for the Australian Boomers squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Over the past 10 days, Jack and Will have been in intense training camps, where they have not only impressed in the exhibition games but also demonstrated exceptional dedication and energy during training sessions. Their outstanding defensive skills, high energy levels, and commitment have caught the eye of Boomers Head Coach Brian Goorjian, highlighting the work ethic instilled by the JackJumpers.

Jack McVeigh led the Boomers in scoring during their first exhibition game, netting 24 points and hitting six of his eight three-point attempts. His impressive offensive display and ability to step up in crucial moments underscore his value to the team.

Will Magnay has been a defensive powerhouse, successfully holding down China's 7'3" center and showcasing his grit and grind—qualities that epitomize the JackJumpers' spirit.

"This is a great moment for Jack McVeigh and his entire family. It’s also a great moment for the JackJumpers organization and especially for my coaches who have worked with Jack daily over the past three years. It’s been a remarkable journey with Jack, and the good news is this story has many more chapters yet to be written. Congrats!!!" said Scott Roth, Head Coach of the JackJumpers.

General Manager Mika Vakuna added, "It’s a great honour to represent your country in any sport, and to do so at the Olympics is equally impressive. This is a great reward and reflection of the hard work that Jack and Will have put in over the past couple of years. We couldn’t be happier or prouder for them both."

Scott Roth also commented, "So happy for Will…he exemplifies the grit and grind that are the JackJumpers! To have both him and Jack represent Australia and the JackJumpers is a huge achievement. Our club and Tasmania can’t be any prouder of both of them! Congrats."

Christine Finnegan, CEO of the JackJumpers, stated, "This is a testament to our club and the hard work of everyone involved, from coaches and assistant coaches to our high performance department. It’s a great win for Tasmania as a state. We are incredibly proud of Jack and Will and grateful to all who have supported them on this journey."

The Boomers recently triumphed over China with a resounding 91-58 victory, with Jack and Will playing crucial roles. Their all-around efforts on and off the court have made the JackJumpers proud and excited for what’s to come.

Stay tuned for more updates as our JackJumpers continue to shine on the international stage, bringing pride to Tasmania and the nation. Go Boomers! Go JackJumpers!
