The Tasmania JackJumpers are pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Radford as one of the club’s Assistant Coaches.

Radford has enjoyed a decorated career as a coach in Tasmanian and Australian basketball. He is currently the Basketball Tasmania State Head Coach, a position he has held for the past seven years.

Radford was also the Head Coach of the Australian World University Games Team from 2017-2019 and the North West Thunder from 2001-2008. He has served as an Assistant Coach with the Australian U19 National Team from 2014-2016 and with the Perth Wildcats (2008-2010) and Adelaide 36ers (2010-2013) in the NBL.

Tasmania JackJumpers Head Coach Scott Roth said: “We are delighted to welcome Mark to the JackJumpers’ coaching staff.

“Mark is one of Australia’s leading coaches and will be an invaluable resource to us as we prepare for our NBL debut in October. Mark is also one of the most respected coaches in Tasmanian basketball and will help us build a team all Tasmanians can be proud of.

“With Sejr Deans becoming our first player signing last month and now Mark’s appointment, the JackJumpers already have a strong Tasmanian flavour and we look forward to more exciting announcements in the future.”

Radford said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the JackJumpers staff as an inaugural Assistant Coach. To have the opportunity to return to the NBL with Tasmania is an honour and I can’t wait to help build the JackJumpers into a championship calibre team alongside Scott Roth and the rest of the staff.

“Tasmanian basketball is close to my heart and there’s never been a more exciting time for the sport in our state and I am looking forward to the journey ahead with the JackJumpers.”

Basketball Tasmania CEO Chris McCoy said: “Mark Radford has had a tremendously positive impact on basketball in Tasmania over the seven years in his role as the BTAS State Head Coach. He will be missed in our programs but this is a great opportunity for him and a fantastic endorsement of Tasmanian basketball.”
