The Tasmania JackJumpers would like to acknowledge the immense contribution of the hon. Peter Gutwein during his tenure as Tasmanian Premier and wish him well as he resigns from the Tasmanian Parliament.
Peter was instrumental in securing the NBL’s 10th franchise licence based in Tasmania and the stunning redevelopment of the MyState Bank Arena.
Tasmania JackJumpers Owner Larry Kestelman said “I want to express my deepest thanks to Peter Gutwein. To put it simply, the Tasmania JackJumpers wouldn’t be possible if it wasn’t for Peter’s vision, support and passion.
“Peter’s determination in helping make the JackJumpers a reality, and to transform the Derwent Entertainment Centre, was inspirational. He always had the Tasmanian people front of mind and he has delivered a professional sporting team and world class entertainment precinct to them – something the entire state should be tremendously proud of.
“Peter has been the JackJumpers’ biggest fan and I’m sure he will continue cheering on the team in the years to come at MyState Bank Arena” Kestelman said.
JackJumpers Chairman Keryn Nylander said Premier Gutwein had been a champion of Tasmanian sport and sportspeople and leaves an enviable legacy in securing elite teams and content.
“We are proud to continue Peter’s legacy in uniting the State behind a team which represents all Tasmanians and gives them a team to support and aspire to.
“Peter has been an outstanding leader amid extremely challenging circumstances and worked tirelessly to protect and serve Tasmanians.
“We wish Peter and his family all the very best for the future” Nylander said.
