Jack McVeigh claims first club MVP in Championship season

NBL Championship MVP Jack McVeigh has added another accolade to his growing trophy cabinet – named the 2024 Tasmania JackJumpers Most Valuable Player for the first time.
McVeigh was awarded his first club MVP at the JackJumpers night of nights, the 2024 Tasmania JackJumpers MVP Gala Ball at MyState Bank Arena in front of more than 550 people.
“I’m truly honoured to win this for the first time and especially in a Championship season. Just incredibly grateful for the club and the state of Tasmania. it’s been so special to win this for the state in such a short time” McVeigh said.
McVeigh’s performance through the finals series secured the 27 year old the club’s top individual honour, with two time MVP Milton Doyle finishing in second, just 3 votes behind him, and import Jordon Crawford in third.
The club honour comes after McVeigh was also named the Larry Sengstock trophy winner for the MVP of the Championship Series on Sunday.
“Tasmania definitely feels like home now. I’m really settled here, my partner Beth is moving down soon from Adelaide and I’m playing the best basketball of my career here” Jack said.
The Tasmania JackJumpers celebrated the 2023/24 MVP Gala at the club’s southern home, MyState Bank Arena, with corporate partners, members, and fans, recognising both individual and club achievements over the season.
Will Magnay took home two awards, named Defensive Player of the Year and was also voted as the Players’ Player.
Veteran Jarred Bairstow was awarded the Coaches’ Award for his contribution in upholding the team’s values, while Milton Doyle was voted as the Fan Favourite after a public poll of the Ant Army.
Deb and Chris Hills, and Lesley Buchanen, owners of club partner Begents, were awarded the Spirit of the JackJumpers Award, presented by Spirit of Tasmania for their willingness to go above and beyond their roles, and contribute to the ongoing success of the club.
