RECENT FORM
The Tasmania JackJumpers are looking to extend their hold the top of the ladder in Wednesday night’s Hungry Jack’s Ignite Cup game against the Brisbane Bullets.
Captain Will Magnay credits having many not-so-secret weapons in the team’s ranks for the stellar start to the season, culminating in a 5-2 win loss record to date.
“We have so many weapons and good depth,” Magnay said. “There’s nothing special that I’m doing, we have a lot of good people around me, who are helping me be the player I can.
“Taran makes me better, Bannan makes me better, Dakota makes me really good, and DJ is in really good form. It just allows me to be the player I am, it opens up the floor.”
This is the second time the teams have met this season, following the edge-of-your-seat overtime thriller in Brisbane on October 3, which the Tasmanians won 109-99.
The JackJumpers have a strong history when it comes to playing the Bullets, with an 11-5 win loss record. The home-side also has the stronger start to the season, with five wins and two losses, while the Bullets have won three and lost three.
The game will mark a milestone for born and bred Tasmanian Taran Armstrong, who will notch his 50th NBL game.
It also pits American superhero Dakota Mathias against his old side again.
The 31 year old is impressing teammates and fans alike with his never-say-die style, refusing to miss a minute despite breaking his nose in the win against United on October 1.
This is the JackJumpers first Ignite Cup game for the season, and there’s still tickets available click HERE for your chance to see all the action.
The Ignite Cup is an in-season tournament played across 20 Wednesday night games, with every result counting towards the regular season ladder. A unique quarter-by-quarter scoring system decides a separate Ignite Cup ladder.
