Tasmanian fans will be treated to world-class basketball entertainment even in the Hungry Jack’s NBL off-season with The Harlem Globetrotters set to bounce into Hobart and Launceston later this year.

Tricksters Scooter Christensen and Zeus McClurkin were in Hobart on Wednesday ahead of their Australian Tour in July.

Scooter said “it’s our Spreadgame Tour so we’ve added a lot of new elements to the show. The four point shot which is 30 feet away from the rim like Steph Curry range, you know a dunk contest and always a few surprises. I think everyone is guaranteed to leave with a smile on their face having had a really good time”.

The Spreadgame Tour will be dedicated to former Globetrotter Curly Neal who passed away in 2020.

“People always ask how much we train but we have training camps just like any other organisation, we practice every single day to perfect those tricks that’s been passed down from generations”.

Zeus McClurkin is looking forward to bringing even more basketball joy to MyState Bank Arena and the Silverdome as part of their tour.

“I’m Guinness World Record for the most blind folded slam dunks in one minute and the most slam dunks for one minute. But the impact we get to have off the court is really dear to me, to be an entertainer and get to go to schools and hospitals and have a positive impact on young people is so cool” Christiansen.

“I didn’t make my first rep team until 11th grade, a lot of my coaches said I was too nice, I smiled too much, now I get paid to smile and be nice.

The JackJumpers own smiling assassin Jack McVeigh joined the Globetrotters to test their skills.

“Basketballs all about inspiring the kids and having some fun and the Harlem Globetrotters, they represent that so it’s exciting to have them down here in Tasmania” McVeigh said.

The Harlem Globetrotters Spreadgame Tour will be at MyState Bank Arena on July 11 and Launceston Silverdome on July 12.
