The burgeoning rivalry between last year’s Grand Finalists will reach another level in NBL25, with the three mouthwatering matchups between Tasmania JackJumpers and Melbourne United to be dubbed the ‘Bass Strait Battle’, powered by Marinus Link.
This Saturday’s highly anticipated Round 2 clash between the two clubs at MyState Bank Arena will mark the first edition Bass Strait Battle, powered by Marinus Link.
“We all know how tightly contested last season’s Grand Final series was. It is widely regarded as one of the most exciting series in NBL history and the upcoming match ups are set to be just as thrilling,” CEO Christine Finnegan said.
“We’re thrilled to bring this concept to life with the help of Marinus Link, and to continue to bring the fans exciting battles against one of the NBL’s best teams”.
The JackJumpers will host the first Bass Strait Battle at MyState Bank Arena this weekend this before the sides meet again at John Cain Arena on December 23 and then finally late in the season on February 1.
“Over the past few seasons it’s been great to see a really healthy rivalry develop between our two teams on the court, and to celebrate that through the launch of the ‘Bass Strait Battle’ is an exciting moment,” Melbourne United CEO Nick Truelson said.
Marinus Link, the proposed undersea electricity and data interconnector between Tasmania and mainland Australia, will help power the rivalry with fan engagement activities, giveaways and in game activations at each respective game.
Marinus Link is thrilled to again partner with the Tasmania JackJumpers and support the launch of the Bass Strait Battle. Our project will help deliver our renewable future and, like these games, strengthen the connection between Tasmania and Victoria.’ said Marinus Link Acting CEO, Andrew Hugo.
