FINALS BOUND: JackJumpers lock in Play-In double chance

The Tasmania JackJumpers have qualified for the 2022/23 Hungry Jack’s Play-in Tournament, finishing fourth place in the standings following the regular season which secures a second chance to make the Semi-Finals series.  

The JackJumpers will play Cairns Taipans at the Cairns Convention Centre in the 3^rd VS 4^th Seeding Qualifier on Thursday 9^th February at 8.30pm.

The JackJumpers finished fourth with a 16-12 record - the same position as in the club’s inaugural season - behind NBL22 champions Sydney Kings, New Zealand Breakers and Cairns Taipans.

“A lot of people wrote us off coming in to our second season, saying we couldn’t back up last year’s phenomenal effort reaching the Grand Final” CEO Simon Brookhouse said.

“But internally, we know that our culture and foundations give us a platform for sustained success, and we’re thrilled to have secured a top four spot and give ourselves the best chance of competing for a championship again.

“We’re really proud to have produced another ‘winning’ season with 16 wins, but it’s much more than the on-court results, our impact in the community and on the Tasmanian people has continued to increase over our second season” Brookhouse said.

The JackJumpers have faced the Taipans three times in the 2022/23, with 1-2 record, with Tasmania taking the win when the teams last met at Cairns Convention Centre in mid-January.

“We believe we match up well against them. We think our depth will serve us well and we can have a repeat of our last trip up there” Brookhouse said.

In the event the JackJumpers win the Seeding Qualifier, they will progress to the Semi-Final Series against New Zealand Breakers on dates and times to be confirmed.

In the event the JackJumpers lose the Seeding Qualifier, they will play the winner of the Play-In Qualifier between Perth Wildcats and South East Melbourne, at MyState Bank Arena, at a date and time to be confirmed.

JackJumpers 12 & 14 game members will have first priority to tickets for any home Finals at MyState Bank Arena.
