The entire Tasmania JackJumpers playing roster have come together for the first time to celebrate the Club’s 1st birthday. Import Josh Magette is the final JackJumpers player to arrive in the state, completing the inaugural squad ahead of the 2021/22 Hungry Jack’s NBL season.
Magette’s arrival coincides with the one-year anniversary of Tasmania’s long-awaited NBL club coming to life with the announcement of the ‘JackJumpers’ name and brand story on October 1, 2020.
Tasmania JackJumpers CEO Simon Brookhouse said “an incredible amount of work has been done over the past year to build a thriving club from the ground”.
“I’m so proud of what our small team has achieved in a relatively short amount of time. Contracting and bringing 15 humble and hungry elite athletes to Tasmania has been logistically challenging in the current operating environment but it’s a credit to the staff and to the players, to have them all settled here and ready to get to work”.
The Tasmania JackJumpers squad - 8 Australians, 3 Imports, 1 Next Star and 3 Development Players - are now training together and will start their official pre-season program on October 8.
The JackJumpers have 8 coaching and performance staff led by Head Coach Scott Roth, and 11 front office staff under the guidance of CEO Simon Brookhouse.
“We not only have a basketball program that can deliver success from the first season, we’ve also established a commercially sustainable business and a brand that is making a positive impact in the Tasmanian community” Brookhouse said.
The JackJumpers are proud to be a sought-after commercial entity, welcoming 10 partners to the JackJumpers family.
“From our very first sponsor in Silver Spoon to our Principal Partner, Spirit of Tasmania, we are proud to partner with Tasmanian companies that share our values and forge meaningful connections with their stakeholders and customers” Brookhouse said.
The JackJumpers have also embraced and celebrated the rich basketball history in the State, initiating the Bloodlines program and recognising 15 Tasmanian basketball legends.
Importantly, 3011 Tasmanians signed up as Foundation Members and more than 2500 members have committed to be a part of history in NBL22 and experience an unparalleled entertainment product.
“From day one, we have strived to give Tasmanians a place to belong and a team to be proud of” Brookhouse said.
“We have built the foundations of an authentic destination club that challenges the status quo and creates impactful community connections, so that we can grow our brand and the game”.
“We thank the Tasmanian Government and Larry Kestelman and his team for their continued support as we mark this important 1st birthday milestone. We cannot wait to bring the NBL back to Tasmania in a historic first home game at MyState Bank Arena” Brookhouse said.
