Frequently Asked Questions

How did the Tasmanian team originate?
NBL Owner and Executive Chairman Larry Kestelman and the Tasmanian Government announced an agreement for Tasmania to become the 10th NBL team in February 2020. The last NBL team in Tasmania was the Hobart Devils in 1996.
When will the team enter the NBL?
The Tasmania JackJumpers will enter the league for the 2021-22 Hungry Jack’s NBL Season. The NBL season traditionally runs from October to March but the 2020-21 Season will start in January because of COVID-19.
Where will the team play games?
The JackJumpers will play the majority of their home games at the newly renovated MyState Bank Arena in Hobart. They will also play a minimum of two games a season in Launceston. The team will represent all of Tasmania and play pre-season and practice games around the state.
Why the JackJumpers?
Iconic to Tasmania, the JackJumpers will be proud, bold and fearless. The JackJumpers will show that you don’t need to be the biggest to be the best and to drive fear into your opponents.
The JackJumpers logo covers all corners of the state and embodies Tasmania’s challenger spirit and passion. Our green and gold colours pay homage to Tasmania’s rich history and landscape.
The JackJumpers are energetic, fierce and ready to attack and defend with force well beyond their size. We will be a club for all of Tasmania and a club all Tasmanians can be proud of.
How did you select the name?
The name was selected after an exhaustive campaign including asking Tasmanians to nominate their favourite names. Nearly 10,000 entries were received. Brand agency SouthSouthWest, who have worked with brands including Nike, Google and USA Basketball, helped design the iconic JackJumpers logo.
Where can I buy JackJumpers merchandise?
JackJumpers merchandise is available to buy at www.nblstore.com.au.
Will there be a membership for those who live outside of Hobart?
Yes. This is a Club for all Tasmanians and as such we are looking at playing games in the North as well as South. We will create membership packages that cater for those only wishing to attend a few games by location.
I want to become a member but won’t be able to attend any games. How do I do this?
Our membership packages will include a vast array of options including a supporter/digital membership which recognises that parts of our community want to connect with the Club without attending games.
When will corporate packages go on sale?
The Corporate Packages will be released at the same time as the membership packages as per above information.
How do I become a Partner of the Club?
There are plenty of ways to get involved in the Club through partnership options at any level. Don’t hesitate to call on 6144 9200 or contact via email at enquiries@jackjumpers.com.au
