Construction Commences on Tasmania JackJumpers High Performance Training Centre

The Tasmania JackJumpers are thrilled to mark a significant milestone in the club’s history –
the commencement of construction of the new High Performance Training Centre, located at
Kingston View Drive, adjacent to the Kingborough Sports Centre.
The state-of-the-art facility will become the home of the Tasmania JackJumpers’ basketball
and administration operations, bringing the entire club under one roof for the first time, upon
expected completion in mid-2026.
Tasmanian construction firm, Fairbrother has been appointed as the builder through a tender
process by Infrastructure Tasmania through the Department of State Growth, with construction
to begin from Monday 16 June. The site is supported by Kingborough Council.
Tasmania JackJumpers CEO, Christine Finnegan expressed the Club’s enthusiasm for this
important milestone.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to mark this occasion and for our dream of a dedicated high
performance facility to be one step closer to becoming a reality. The HPTC will not only meet
the high standards of our team’s training needs but will also establish us as a destination club,
committed to continuing our mission to Defend the Island.
“We’re very pleased that this project is progressing as planned and I know Scott Roth will be
delighted to see the early stages of construction when he arrives back in Tasmania next month”
she said.
The facility will include training courts, health, wellness and rehabilitation facilities,
administrative areas, merchandise store and community facilities, providing the club with a
permanent base and opening opportunities for the ant army to have greater access to the
team.
“Importantly, this isn’t just a facility for us, it’s a hub for the broader community. We all know
there’s a significant shortage of basketball infrastructure and we expect these new courts will
be made available to club and school basketball, as well as the JackJumpers extensive
community clinic and camp programs” Finnegan said.
Tasmania JackJumpers Chair Steve Old echoed the sentiment.
“We have been looking forward to this day for quite a while and I’m so pleased to see the
building process start to progress. The value of having the whole club in one facility is
enormous in promoting high performance culture across all departments. We look forward to
seeing the build take shape over the coming months” Old said.
