The Tasmania JackJumpers are pleased to confirm the signing of 6’11 Forward Gorjok Gak on a one-year deal, with a team option in the second year.

The 27-year-old joins Tasmania from South East Melbourne Phoenix, where he averaged 15 minutes across 17 games in an injury-interrupted NBL24 season.

“I’m excited to join the JackJumpers and get down to Tasmania. I’ve heard great things about the culture and obviously that has created an environment where players can thrive, and that’s fostered success super quickly” Gak said.

“Really looking forward to getting to know the guys, coaches and front office. All the interactions I’ve had so far, everyone has been incredibly supportive and professional”.

Gak grew up in Sydney before moving to the US College system where he attended University of Florida and California Baptist, finishing as blocks leader in the Western Athletic Conference.

“Gorjok is a really athletic big man who brings a lot of size and length to our group. He really embraces that next man up mentality which he showed that during his season with Phoenix last year” Head Coach Scott Roth said.

“A great rebounder, shot blocker and will provide that extra rim protection for us”.

Gak is currently playing in the NBL1 West, where last season he was the League’s Best Defensive Player and named in the All-Star Five, with the Willetton Tigers. In 2024 he is suiting up for the Rockingham Flames in the same conference.

He will arrive in Tasmania in early August to begin preseason practice ahead of NBL25.
